Mission & Outreach

St. Mark’s works closely with partner organizations to share God’s love in our community, offering a variety of opportunities to be present with, and serve, those in need. We believe that serving our neighbors is a gift that invites us to follow Jesus and to grow in deeper community with those whose lives may look different than ours. Find out more below about different opportunities through St. Mark’s.

  • The Trinity Center Shower Ministry, founded and run by the women of St. Mark’s, provides safe showers for unhoused women. Female volunteers serve on Monday mornings from 9:30am-11:30am, facilitating the showers. St. Mark’s supports this ministry not just with volunteer hours, but also by providing personal care items, bras and underwear, and other necessities for women to feel clean and comfortable.

  • We partner with the Episcopal ministry El Buen Samaritano throughout the year on special events, and especially support their Thanksgiving Hands for Hope Meal Kit distribution. They provide so many important resources to the South Austin community, and we are grateful to get to support them and serve alongside them. For more information on how to get involved, please contact Leslie Hart at lesliekhart at gmail.com.

  • St. Mark’s parishioners and friends meet at 9am every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at the church to cook breakfast for our neighbors at Sunrise Homeless Navigation Center. To get involved, simply show up on a Sunrise Thursday! No experience needed, come ready to serve, and stay for the connection.

Sunrise offers pathways to housing for people experiencing homelessness through low-barrier access to wraparound services by providing innovative, trauma-informed, and person-centered programming that engages our communities and leads system-wide transformation.

  • We support Welcome Table with our annual Angel Tree program, donating H-E-B gift cards, toys, books, and clothes so that Welcome Table families can have an abundance of gifts under their Christmas tree! To get involved, please contact Pam Johns at johnsfamily1908 at sbcglobal.net

  • St. Mark’s partners with Community First! Village on events throughout the year. Parishioners Casey and Sarah Bushman live at Community First! Village and serve as our Missioners, connecting us with opportunities such as holiday cookie baking for CF!V neighbors, small group dinners, serving at markets, and more! To get involved, contact Casey at casey at stmarksaustin.org.
